St. Lucia Attractions-Drive Through a St. Lucia Volcano!

St. Lucia is probably the only place in the world where you can get up and close with and drive through a volcano! The St. Lucia volcano is a must see on many people’s list of St. Lucia attractions. The “drive-in volcano” is located in La Soufriere. The St. Lucia volcano is relatively safe to visit and has not had an eruption since the 1700s.

Travel to St. Lucia-Drive In VolcanoThe volcano in St. Lucia is arguably the smelliest of St. Lucia attractions. The sulfuric gasses emitted from the St. Lucia volcano smell like rotting eggs. The scent can be smelled from a distance and gets even stronger in the evening time. Although the scent is considered to be unpleasant by most people, the medicinal and healing properties of the sulfur springs below the volcano may be another reason why you might wish to visit the volcano in St. Lucia.

Travel to St. Lucia-Sulphur SpringsMany people go to the volcano to bathe and heal their skin. The healing sulphur springs are said to heal blemishes and make skin softer. The best and most suggested way to visit the St. Lucia volcano is to take a tour. Many St. Lucia cruises offer a St. Lucia volcano tour. It is best to compare tour prices online. Many companies offer a tour that includes a visit to the St. Lucia volcano and other St. Lucia attractions. I have seen tour prices as much as $80 that includes a visit to the St. Lucia volcano.

Although you do not have to worry about a St. Lucia volcano eruption, there is a barrier near the crater to protect visitors. The St. Lucia Volcano is a wonderful St. Lucia attraction you won’t want to miss!

If you have ever been to Yellowstone National Park in the US then save your money. The drive-through volcano in St. Lucia is a tourist trap and major disappointment.
